Three South Carolina players win Mega Millions, claiming $40,000 and $10,000 prizes

Three South Carolina ticket holders each won thousands of dollars from Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing.

A ticket valued at $40,000 was sold at Quick Pantry #21, located at 1096 John C. Calhoun Dr. in Orangeburg. Meanwhile, $10,000 worth of tickets each were purchased at Scotchman #3884 at 10305 Hwy 78 E. in Summerville and Quick Stop at 5737 Savannah Hwy. in Ravenel.

All three tickets matched four white ball numbers and the gold Megaball number in the December 17 drawing, which had the numbers 56, 66, 67, 68, 69 and Megaball 18. The odds of getting this combination were 1 in 931,001. The selected Megaplier number was a 4.

Players have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prizes. The jackpot has now swelled to $825 million for Friday’s drawing.

The net proceeds from every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery are returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, dealer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services.
