Suspect dead after shootout with police in Phoenix

PHOENIX – A suspect was killed in a midday shooting involving police in Phoenix on Wednesday, authorities said.

The incident occurred in the area of ​​28th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, the Phoenix Police Department said.

No officers were injured and the scene was described as “very active” from 12.20 p.m

Thunderbird Road was expected to remain closed in both directions between 31st Avenue and Interstate 17 for several hours, police said.

Additionally, the Arizona Department of Public Safety closed the I-17 exits in both directions while the investigation was underway.
