The countdown to Christmas is officially in the single digits! Whether you’re watching “The Grinch,” Sabrina Carpenter’s Christmas special, or even “Die Hard,” you might be playing some classic Christmas tunes, too.

Christmas music seems to be hit-or-miss with most people, and opinions on specific songs can vary widely. Financial Information Hub FinanceBuzz has compiled a list of the most searched Christmas carols in each state over the past five years. The company used Google Trends to gather data on the top 25 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

FinanceBuzz also polled 1,250 US adults to determine which Christmas carols were the most annoying. The results may surprise you.

What is the most popular Christmas carol in Texas?

Perhaps it’s no surprise that the most popular song in the Lone Star State for another year in a row is Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano. Texas shares a border with Mexico and has a relatively large Latino population. Feliciana, a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, released the original English-Spanish track in 1970.

Florida was the only other state to claim “Feliz Navidad” as its most popular carol — which makes sense considering it follows closely behind Texas in its Latino population. However, “Feliz Navidad” was not the most searched song in California, which has the largest Latino population among states. Instead, the Golden State shows an appreciation for “Jingle Bells,” which is the most popular in 14 states.

What is the most annoying Christmas carol?

Brace yourself for this hot take: Adults polled by FinanceBuzz said the most annoying Christmas carol isAll I want for Christmas is you” by Mariah Carey. Don’t come after us – we’re just messengers!

The modern classic’s return to stores and radio is an inevitable part of the holiday season. For the past five years, the 1994 song has hit No. 1 overall on the Billboard Christmas week. While it was the most popular song in only two states last season, most states (27) ranked it as one of the five most popular songs. It was among the top three most popular songs in 20 states.

The popularity of Carey’s holiday song may be why some find it annoying. As with most songs that are perceived as overplayed, people are bound to tire of “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
