See Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa in new Christmas movie

Arnold Schwarzenegger told us he would be back, but he didn’t mention it would be as Santa Claus.

The action star was spotted sporting a white beard and festive attire while filming an upcoming holiday flick, The man with the bagin New York City.

“Santa is coming to town!” the Terminator the actor captioned a photo of himself playing Kris Kringle. “It’s great to shoot The man with the bag with @alanritchson. Our director @adamshankman is one of the funnest directors I’ve worked with, New York City is a great host, it’s a pleasure working with @amazonmgmstudios and I can’t wait to share all this Christmas cheer with everyone one of you.”

Ritchson, perhaps best known to audiences for his portrayal of Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series Reachercosts in the upcoming family-friendly adventure. Director Adam Shankman has been the man behind the lens in films such as Hair spray, The wedding plannerand A walk to remember.

The new project’s official description from Amazon: “When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a thief, to help him get it back. Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfits, Vance will have to pull off the biggest heist of his life to save Christmas.”

Schwarzenegger has some experience with holiday fare. He played a father desperate to buy his son the perfect Christmas present – a Turbo Man action figure – in the 1996s Jingle all the way. He had hoped to make up for all the time he spent away from his wife Liz (Rita Wilson) and son Jamie (Jake Lloyd) with it, but the problem was that another parent (Sinbad) was after the same trendy toy.

With a cast of comedy veterans including Phil Hartman, Jim Belushi and Laraine Newman, Jingle all the way has some funny moments. It isn’t Alone at homebut it’s usually part of the endless stream of holiday programming that makes its way to televisions this time of year. (In 2014, Jingle all the way 2starring Larry the Cable Guy, went straight to DVD.)

The man with the bag has not yet been given a release date.
