Forecast for Day Four of the Gabba Test in Brisbane.

A stop-start day’s play on moving day at the Gabba in Brisbane meant the Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s third Test match remains heavily affected by weather conditions. Only 33 overs were bowled on day three, split roughly evenly between the end of Australia’s innings and the start of India’s, but plenty still happened as India’s top order once again fired to end the day trailing by 294 runs with 4 wickets already down.

Although there was no constant shower, persistent and unpredictable rain meant the umpires had to call off play due to weather six times during the day. The Gabba’s elite drainage system and the rain that never really let up meant there was constant hope of games, but they never quite materialised. India’s innings in particular was crippled, interrupted several times before the umpires finally called for stumps.

Unfortunately for Australia’s hopes of getting a comfortable result at the Gabba, as they looked set to do with 4 early Indian wickets, rain is also expected to play a part in the rest of the two days. However, it may be clear enough in the second half of the day that longer playing periods are possible.

Forecast for Day 4 at the Gabba

On day four of the Test match, the Woolloongabba area of Brisbane, after which the cricket stadium is named, is expected to see showers, especially in the morning. According to AccuWeather, there is a roughly 49% chance of precipitation between 8 and 10:00 a.m., when the game is scheduled to begin at

This will increase to a 55% chance of rain around 10am. 11 a.m., meaning the morning session will again be heavily impacted by the chance of showers. Cloudy conditions will also bode badly for India, with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma currently on the crease and not finding time on the crease to get into rhythm.

The positive sign for the match is that conditions are expected to start to clear up around midday, with some rain expected through the afternoon. A 49% chance of rain is expected by midday, but that drops to 20% for the rest of the way through noon.

Fortunately for the game, the rain is expected to return around 7pm in South Brisbane, which fans will hope will stay that way after a limited viewing experience on Monday.
