Loop 202 WB closed due to fatal pedestrian accident in Mesa

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) – A busy highway is closed due to a fatal pedestrian accident in Østdalen right in the middle of rush hour traffic on Monday morning.

According to Department of Public Safety troopers, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Loop 202 Red Mountain near Alma School Road around 6:30 a.m.

Freeway cameras show two vehicles pulled onto the shoulder of the freeway.

The westbound lanes are closed at Country Club Drive. Drivers should take alternate routes or avoid the area.
