Woman arrested in connection with grandson’s fatal shooting

A woman in her 70s was taken into custody in connection with the slaying of her grandson during a domestic violence incident Sunday at a Buckeye home, according to police officials.

Buckeye police responded just after 4 p.m. to a report of a shooting at a home near 254th Avenue and Carson Drive, police said in a news release. When officers arrived, they ordered the occupants to leave the home.

A woman in her 50s left the home and was taken into custody without incident. Officers then went inside and found a woman in her early 30s unresponsive with a gunshot wound, police said. They brought her outside and began life-saving measures.

Police then found a woman in her 70s inside the home with a gun nearby. She was taken into custody without incident.

Buckeye police said information gathered at the scene indicated “the shooting was part of a domestic violence incident involving a grandmother, mother and granddaughter and that the grandmother shot the grandson,” according to the news release.
