Dolphins WR Grant DuBose drove off the field after scary helmet-to-helmet hit

UPDATE:

The Dolphins have revealed that DuBose is in stable condition, which is great news.

The Miami Dolphins are down Jaylen Waddle, who left the game with a significant knee injury. Now they will be without Grant DuBose, who suffered a scary head injury in the third quarter of the game against the Houston Texans.

DuBose initially caught a pass over the middle of the field and was hit by Texans defender Calen Bullock. He was immediately attended to by training staff, who began to stabilize the young receiver.

As of this writing, DuBose remains on the ground and a host of training staffs are preparing to move the young receiver. The scene looks pretty grim as players have taken one knee to offer support.

DuBose is being transferred to a gurney and will likely go directly to a local hospital to be checked out by doctors. The hope is that he only suffered a concussion, although the nature of this injury looks very scary.

DuBose had to have his jersey cut off and his face mask unscrewed. The training staff is working very carefully to ensure that he is not moved the wrong way. The dolphin passport catcher was also connected to an IV.

The injury is a scary scene, and the hope is that DuBose can walk away from the injury with full function. As mentioned, he will be taken to a hospital for further evaluation and the team will offer updates as they come.

DuBose was elevated for the game to offer support to the many Dolphins receivers out. Since Waddle will not return either, the team is already thin at the passing position.

The Dolphins are looking for their seventh win of the season, which would get the team back to a .500 record. A big win against the Texans will also move them closer to potentially clinching a wild-card playoff spot. But they are battling with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos for that spot.

Miami lost Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion, which nearly derailed their season. Tagovailoa has been on fire since his return, but the Dolphins need to beat top-tier AFC teams to not only secure a playoff spot to be seen as a viable playoff contender.

They will have to try to beat the Texans without Waddle and DuBose. Hopefully the news about DuBose will be positive after the scary hit he took.
