YouTube TV is allowing some subscribers to delay this price increase

YouTube announced a steep subscription price increase this week, which will increase monthly costs by $10 to $82.99 on January 13 for existing members (or now if you sign up today). Some subscribers refrain from the trek using the time-honored tradition of threatening to cancel, as a Rim reader indicated in a comment to our original story about the price increase.

It is backed up by users in a Reddit thread to 9to5Google spottyseveral of whom reported getting the offer to keep paying $72.99 for six more months when they tried to cancel their subscriptions, although some reported that it didn’t work for them. Some who got to keep the old price say it only happened when they logged in using a web browser on their computer and pressed offers to pause their subscription instead.

One Rim employee, Jennifer Tuohy, received the offer to extend her current award. She canceled by logging into YouTube TV in a browser on her computer and navigating to Settings > Membership > Manage. As of this morning, Reddit users continue to report receipt of the extension offer.
