Chiefs QB hurts ankle vs Browns

game

The Kansas City Chiefs got a scare after Patrick Mahomes limped off a fourth-and-3 incompletion in the fourth quarter of their Week 15 game vs Cleveland Browns.

Mahomes took the snap and tried to move around the pocket to create more time on the play. Eventually his protection collapsed on top of him and he had to jump while throwing the ball.

The pass skipped in front of his intended receiver, but more importantly, Mahomes was very slow to get on the play. He took a long time to get to his feet before strongly favoring his left leg as he walked to the touchline.

The broadcast later showed that Mahomes had his left ankle taped while sitting on the bench.

Here’s what you need to know about Mahomes’ injury.

The bosses announced that Mahomes was “doubtful” to return to the game after suffering an ankle injury. He suffered the injury on a fourth-down pass attempt in the fourth quarter against the Browns and was seen taping his injured ankle on the sideline.

Carson Wentz replaced Mahomes on the ensuing drive, which began with chiefs with a 14-point lead with just 5:23 left in the game.

Mahomes went 19-of-38 passing for 159 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the game.
