Metro Detroit Weather: Another cold day, without the wind

Metro Detroit is locked in the grip of winter today with a high temperature of just 24°.

The good news? The wind will remain light, so the cold will not feel as biting. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 17° under partly cloudy skies, making it another cold evening across the region.

Looking ahead to the weekend, a warming trend begins. Saturday sees a more pleasant temperature of 37° under predominantly cloudy skies. On Sunday, temperatures will jump even higher to 43°, but with warmer air comes the chance of precipitation.

Early Sunday morning, watch for a period of freezing rain between 4-8am, especially on untreated roads and pavements, which could make for slippery travel conditions. As temperatures rise, the freezing rain will transition to normal rain, with showers expected primarily through the afternoon.

Be prepared for changing conditions this weekend as we approach a rare 50 degree day in mid-December!
