The Dominican Republic secures 50,000 extra plane seats from Canada

Montreal, Canada.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced agreements with Canadian airlines to provide 50,000 additional seats on routes connecting Canada with the Dominican Republic in peak season 2025. Air Transat will introduce four new routes connecting Canada with Punta Cana, SamanĂ¡, Puerto Plata and La Romana , adding 15,500 seats. Sunwing Airlines will increase its frequencies and contribute almost 30,000 seats.

Collado emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Canadian airlines, noting Canada’s role as the second largest source of tourists to the Dominican Republic. He highlighted the airlines’ confidence in the Dominican market and their contribution to the growth of tourism.

The Ministry of Tourism also conducted roadshows in Toronto and Montreal, partnering with over 300 tour operators and travel agencies. These events included private meetings with airlines and other key players in Canada’s travel industry, further strengthening the Dominican Republic’s tourism prospects.
