Owen Wilson joins Matt Rife in ‘Rolling Loud’ film from Live Nation

EXCLUSIVE: Owen Wilson to star opposite comedian Matt Rife in Rolls highan R-rated father-son comedy set at the titular hip-hop festival celebrating its 10th year. Production on the film, written and directed by American High’s Jeremy Garelick, starts on the ground at the festival in Miami this weekend.

Inspired by a true story, Rolls high follows an overprotective father (Wilson) who makes a bold parenting decision when he sneaks his 13-year-old son into the world’s biggest hip-hop music festival and sets off a chaotic adventure with his ruthless colleague (Rife) and an eccentric festival volunteer when they navigate wild crowds, safety, and their own family dynamics.

Coming from Live Nation Productions, a division of Live Nation Entertainment and American High, the film will be produced by Garelick and Will Phelps for American High, along with Stella Bulochnikov for Pat Solitano Productions, Jolene and Doug Banker for Five All in the Fifth . Exec producers include Ryan Kroft for Live Nation Productions; Pasquale Rotella, Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif of Rolling Loud; Rife; and Christina Shams. UTA Independent Film Group reprises worldwide rights to the film, which is slated for release next year.

Wilson emerges from the second season of Disney+’s acclaimed Marvel series Lokiopposite Tom Hiddleston, reprising his role as Time Variance Authority agent Mobius. Most recently, he produced and starred in an untitled series for Apple that centers on his Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill ex-pro golfer who hedges his bets on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom played by Peter Dager. The comedy, written and created by Jason Keller, is set to premiere in 2025.

Rife is selling out arenas across the globe with his recently announced Matt Rife: Stay Golden Tour, which includes two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He has also just published his first book, Your mother will love mea memoir from Simon & Schuster that became an instant New York Times bestseller.
