Springfield City Council to vote on new interim city manager

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Springfield City Council is expected to vote on a resolution Dec. 16 that will name Deputy City Manager Collin Quigley as interim city manager.

The provisional appointment will take effect on 12 January. Current City Manager Jason Gage tendered his resignation effective Jan. 11.

Quigley joined the City of Springfield as Assistant City Manager in August 2007. He was promoted to Deputy City Manager in 2018. In this role, he is responsible for directing and overseeing the functions and activities of the Airport, Emergency Communications, Finance, Fire, Health, Information Systems, Municipal Court, Police and Risk Management Departments. He works closely with the City Manager and Deputy City Manager, Maurice Jones, to coordinate and manage the city’s day-to-day operations.

Quigley is a Springfield native with a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Evangel University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. He is a Credentialed City Manager (ICMA-CM) with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and a past board member of the Missouri City Management Association (MCMA).

Prior to joining Springfield as Assistant City Manager, Collin served as City Administrator for the Cities of Ozark and Kimberling City.

“Collin will provide stable leadership as we continue the search for a full-time City Manager to succeed Jason Gage. He is a highly qualified professional who knows the city’s operations well and is fully committed to our community,” said Mayor Ken McClure. His years of dedicated service are a testament to his conscientiousness.”

Quigley has said he is not a candidate for the permanent City Manager position, but is dedicated to serving the city in the interim. The City Council and Executive Search Firm Strategic Governmental Resources (SGR) are conducting a nationwide search.

The posting is expected to be published in the first week of January and candidates will initially be screened in February and March.
