How to watch Michigan vs. Minnesota – NCAA Men’s Hockey (12/6/24) | Channel, Stream, Preview

MINNEAPOLIS – After a tough weekend against an in-state rival, the Michigan Wolverines face another test in Big Ten action as they open up a two-game set against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday night.

The Wolverines and Golden Gophers both enter the weekend ranked as top-10 teams in the country and undefeated in conference play thus far. Both teams have also had plenty of success in non-conference action.

With a number of new faces on the roster, the Wolverines have fared relatively well despite having some early season struggles against other teams from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, such as Minnesota State and St. Cloud State. However, the team went on a six-game winning streak that included back-to-back sweeps over Notre Dame and Penn State to kick their Big Ten program off on the right foot. But they hit a speed bump against a talented Western Michigan team last weekend and needed a 2-1 win last Saturday to earn a split with the Broncos.

The Golden Gophers also had some trouble last weekend when they welcomed a pesky Alaska team to Mariucci. After tying the Nanooks on Friday, the Gophers had to battle to earn a 5-2 win. Minnesota has gone undefeated in their last four games, including a sweep of the Fighting Irish two weeks ago. The Gophers also have wins in Big Ten games against the Nittany Lions and Wisconsin.

The Gophers are 155-136-20 against the Wolverines, although Michigan went 2-1-1 against Minnesota last season.
