Curtis Jones on Newcastle draw: ‘We’ll take the point and move on’

After a difficult opening half, Liverpool worked their way in front thanks to a strong display of attacking football in the second period.

Asked about the difference between the two halves, Jones said: “It’s the energy I think. That’s what’s been great. We’ve dominated games and had all the ball and scored great, great goals. But if you look at the stats and how we have run and pushed a lot, that has been the most important thing.

“I think we were sloppy in the first half. We were slow, lost a lot of duels and we took soft (yellow) cards. It just shows that you are a little bit slow in your tackles. It is one of those days. In the second half we showed that we have a great team and a great camp.

Jones made his 150th appearance for Liverpool tonight, with the Kirkby Academy graduate marking the occasion with that goal in the 50th minute.

“It means everything,” Jones said of the milestone. “It’s as simple as that. I’m a kid who came through the Academy. I’m a Scouser myself, I’ve supported the club all my life so I hope there are more and more games.”
