MN Weather: Blizzard warning issued for Twin Cities, northwest Minnesota

The National Weather Service issued a snow flurry warning Wednesday morning for areas of the Twin Cities metro and northwest Minnesota.

Snow, wind and freezing temperatures

A cold front moving through with rain, snow and plummeting temperatures could create slick patches on Minnesota roads. Although temperatures started above freezing on Wednesday, a cold front moving through is plunging temperatures into the teens and single digits.

The front brings showers of rain and snow, and while the light moisture initially melts on the roads, as the ground begins to freeze, it can create slippery patches on untreated surfaces.

There is also a wind advisory in effect for much of Minnesota until midnight with sustained winds of 20-30 mph and gusts of 40 plus mph.

The humidity and gusty winds could create challenging road conditions for motorists across Minnesota on Wednesday.
