Cold weather overnight shelters open in Tallahassee

Cold weather accommodation available Friday 11/29/2024, Saturday 11/30/2024, Sunday 12/1/2024, Monday 12/24/24 and Tuesday 12/24/3. Following the recommendation of local health experts and due to persistent cold nighttime temperatures at or below 35 degrees on the above nights, local governments and community partners will conduct shelters to keep those experiencing homelessness safe.

All overnight activities will be conducted in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and in coordination with Leon County Emergency Management. Public health precautions include socially distanced sleep, face coverings and improved sanitation.

Anyone needing cold night shelter on these nights should go to the location that best represents their household composition:

  • Single Adults (18 and over): The Kearney Center- 2650 Municipal Way
  • Families (at least 1 adult and child): HOPE Community- 2729 West Pensacola
  • Youth (18 and under): 2407 Roberts Ave

The homeless population has been informed about cold night shelter operations via personal communication and also a text to phone service. For those who need more information about planning cold night shelters, call the Big Bend Continuum of Care Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (850) 792-5015.
