It may be cold outside, but Mother Nature isn’t stopping the heat at Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.

That was evident at Ohio Stadium on Saturday — especially in the second quarter.

In the second quarter of “The Game” between Buckeyes and Wolverinesa brawl broke out on the Michigan sideline after Jyaire Hill tackled Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith out of bounds after a 5-yard catch on first-and-10. The action on the field led to one of the field umpires being pushed to the ground.

As noted by Fox’s Joel Klatt, the brawl was catalyzed by Hill tackling Smith several seconds after the Buckeyes’ wide receiver had made the tackle and the play had come to an “end.” Players from both sides briefly encouraged the officials to throw more flags.

After a brief argument on the field, Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins and a Michigan assistant standing on the sideline received unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that were tied.

Here’s a look at the umpire being knocked onto the field from the fight:

Michigan currently leads Ohio State, which briefly lost quarterback Will Howard a few plays after the brawl, in the second quarter 7-3. The Buckeyes need a win on Saturday to clinch a spot in the Big Ten championship game next Saturday and, perhaps more importantly, end a three-game skid against the Wolverines.
