My Chemical Romance’s former drummer Bob Bryar found dead aged 44

The former drummer for a popular rock band has died at the age of 44.

TMZ reports Bob Bryar, the longest-tenured drummer for My Chemical Romance, was found dead at his home in Tennessee on Tuesday. A cause of death has not been released, but foul play is not suspected.

Bryar was last seen alive on Nov. 4, sources told TMZ. Animal control was reportedly called to the home to remove two dogs after his badly decomposed body was discovered.

Bryar was the drummer for My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010, appearing on the alternative rock/emo/punk group’s iconic “The Black Parade” album. He also co-wrote songs on the 2010 release, “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” with the hit single “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na).”

Bryar and other MCR members, including singer Gerard Way and guitarist Ray Toro, were injured while filming the music video for “Famous last words” in 2006. Bryar suffered third-degree burns and several concerts were canceled as a result of his medical issues.

According to New York PostBryar was previously the sound engineer for The Used and replaced original MCR drummer Matt Pelissier while the two bands were on tour in 2004. He worked on other bands’ tours after leaving My Chemical Romance before turning to real estate, according to TMZ .

My Chemical Romance has not commented on Bryar’s death. The band reunited for a 2022 tour, without Bryar, and has a handful of “Long Live the Black Parade” concerts planned next year.
