Prepare for lake effect snow in northern Michigan through Tuesday afternoon

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 9:49 a.m. EST for lake effect snow until noon EST for Antrim, Otsego and Charlevoix counties.

“A band of heavier lake-effect snow flurries currently exists over western Antrim and Otsego counties. This band is producing heavy snow flurries that are resulting in low visibility and accumulation of wet snow on roadways. These conditions lead to hazardous roadway driving. The band will drift northward during the next hour and finally weaken in the middle of the day,” the weather service says.
