Trump nominates former Pence military aide to new post in Ukraine

President-elect Trump has nominated a Vietnam War veteran and retired general to a potential new post focused on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Reuters, Trump has created the position of special envoy for the Ukraine conflict and selected Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg for the post.

Kellogg served as former Vice President Mike Pence’s national security adviser and was spotted at the president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago club on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.

Three familiar sources told Reuters that Kellogg presented Trump with a plan to end the conflict and in April co-authored a research paper that presented the idea of ​​using weapons delivered to Ukraine as leverage for ceasefire talks with Russia.

Kellogg currently co-chairs the Center for American Security at the America First Policy Institute — which is led by several nominees now within the new Trump administration.

AFPI’s board chair is Education Secretary-designate Linda McMahon and its president is Agriculture Secretary-designate Brooke Rollins.
