How cold will it be tonight?

One of the coldest mornings of the fall greeted many Alabama residents Saturday, with several locations hitting freezing overnight.

But the cold will start to take a bit of a toll today as a warming trend gets underway.

Overnight temperatures were mostly in the 30s across the state. Of the larger areas, one of the coldest was Haleyville at 29 degrees. And Mobile even dipped into the 30s with a low of 38 degrees.

Here’s a look at some overnight lows (but not the official lows) from 6 Saturday from the National Weather Service:

* Montgomery: 34 degrees

* Muscle hours: 32 degrees

* Ozark: 37 degrees

* Troy: 31 degrees

* Tuscaloosa: 32 degrees

Temperatures are still expected to be on the cool side today, with highs mostly in the 50s and 60s. Here is Saturday’s forecast for high temperatures:

Tonight will be another cold one, with low temperatures expected to drop back into the 30s across much of north and central Alabama. South Alabama could stay in the 40s. (See tonight’s low temperature forecast at the top of this post.)

But it is not expected to be quite as cold as the night before.

Temperatures will warm up more on Sunday, with highs expected to climb into the mid-60s to low 70s across the state:

How about next week? There are some signs that the colder temperatures will return towards the end of the month.

The six- to 10-day temperature outlook from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center shows a greater likelihood of below-average temperatures from Nov. 28-Dec. 2. The probability increases as you go north in the state:
