Social Security announces Christmas checks for retirees

As December approaches, it is Social Security Administration has announced a new $1,914 check. This check will be deposited on Christmas Day for eligible retired workers. Each month, SSA makes more than 70 million payments to retirees, survivors, disabled workers, and recipients of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. The SSA has developed a monthly schedule for the delivery of these monthly benefits so that beneficiaries know when they will receive their checks. On average, retired workers can receive $1,914, but other payment amounts are available depending on your full retirement age (FRA), work history, and Social Security taxes paid while you were an active worker.

Social Security announces a whopping $1,914 payout for retirees

Typically, SSA sends the first payment for this group of recipients on the third day of the month, followed by payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month. Next month, however, the calendar will have a slight change because the fourth Wednesday falls on December 25. Since this date is a holiday, the federal agency moves this payment date to the previous business day, which means that the last payment in December will come on December 24th.
