The Eagles hero and ex-Michigan star tears triceps

game

Brandon Graham may have just played his last game with the Philadelphia Eagles and in his NFL career.

The former Michigan football standout defensive lineman and Detroit native dominated Los Angeles Rams Sunday evening in Eagles’ 37-20 win at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., but then suffered an injury and a gut-wrenching prognosis.

Graham, 36, told reporters in the locker room after the game that he had a torn triceps in his left arm that occurred late in the second half vs. Rams. The injury ends his season after 11 games. He had initially been excluded by Eagles (9-2) with an elbow injury.

Graham said this in July would be his 15th and final NFL seasonbreaking Chuck Bednarik’s record for most seasons played with the club. He is the Eagles’ all-game leader with 206.

Emotion was raw on his face as he broke the news to reporters in the locker room after a game in which he made life miserable for Rams offense and quarterback Matthew Stafford, recording a sack, two tackles for loss and three quarterback hits .

“I had fun out there,” Graham, an Eagles captain, told reporters Sunday night. “And we’re still going to have fun. But I’m out for a year.

“If I had to go out like this … I gave it all out there on the field,” Graham added after the team’s seventh straight win kept it one game behind the Detroit Lions in the NFC playoffs for seed no. 1.

Graham finishes his 2024 season with 20 total tackles and 3½ sacks.

Graham, a beloved, gregarious figure standing 6 feet 2 and 265 pounds, starred in Detroit Crockett and then for Wolverines from 2006-09. He was Total no. 13 by the Eagles in the 2010 draft. He is a one-time Pro Bowl selection.

“BG” made perhaps the biggest play in Eagles history late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 52 in February 2018, sacking Tom Brady to help the Eagles cruise to their first ever Super Bowl victory.

“All I know is they’re not done with me yet,” he told reporters Sunday evening. “I want to make sure I get out there and be the best leader I can be, keep bringing the energy.”
