Here’s why Taylor Swift wasn’t at the Chiefs-Bills game in Buffalo

Why wasn’t Taylor Swift at the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills game on Sunday?

The superstar singer was in Toronto for an “Eras Tour” concert the night before, a short drive or flight away from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, but didn’t show up to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. He caught just two passes for 8 yards as Kansas City lost, 21-30, and the Bills dashed the defending Super Bowl champions’ hopes of a perfect season.

Swifties, meanwhile, wondered if their hero would make an appearance. Multiple reports indicated she would not be in attendance, but a local radio station falsely claimed she arrived via police escort on I-190, according to Democrat & Chronicle.

Swift, 34, performed in Toronto on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but had nothing on the schedule Sunday. Her billion-dollar concert tour is actually staying in the Canadian city all week, with her next three shows set for the 21st-23rd. November at the Rogers Center in Toronto. Page six reports Swift is being more careful about where she makes public appearances after a foiled terrorist attack forced her to cancel three sold-out concerts in Vienna, Austria, in August. She has also faced some online abuse for publicly endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris over President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Insiders say Swift feels safe with Kelce, 35, and will happily attend games at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium — but not away games, like in Buffalo.

“She doesn’t go anywhere unless she knows the place intimately and it’s been thoroughly researched and secured beforehand,” a source told Page Six.

Swift was accompanied by Kelce recently at a New York Yankees baseball game and the US Open tennis tournament, and all security requirements were coordinated in advance, Page Six reported. She attended the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Bills at Highmark Stadium in January, but has not appeared at any of Kansas City’s road games this season.

“The reason for the (Vienna concert) cancellations filled me with a new sense of dread and an enormous amount of guilt because so many people had planned to come to these shows,” Swift said.

Meanwhile, Kelce did not perform at any of Swift’s concerts in Toronto prior to the Chiefs-Bills game. According to Bleacher ReportNFL rules about travel the night before a game include curfews and policies about sleeping in the same hotel as the rest of the team.

The Buffalo Bills have no upcoming games scheduled against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the two teams could meet again in the AFC playoffs. Swift could appear when her tour wraps up on Dec. 8 in Vancouver.
