Giants’ Tommy DeVito taunted by Buccaneers in touchdown celebration

The Tommy DeVito era returned to MetLife on Sunday, but it doesn’t look like the third-string quarterback who won the hearts of fans last year is going to save the Giants’ miserable season.

That was confirmed late in the second quarter of the Giants’ Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who extended their lead over New York to 23-0 just before halftime.

And when Baker Mayfield took the ball into the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown on the ground, he celebrated by doing DeVito’s signature hand gesture. The celebration was short, but the grave was ready.

That gesture was one of the pinnacle of the DeVito craze last season, when the New Jersey native stepped up and won three straight games for a struggling Giants team. His Italian heritage was celebrated by fans looking for a little levity amid a dismal season.

But a year later, things look even bleaker, and DeVito’s own party is used to taunt him.
