Kendrick Lamar Introduces Surprise Album With ‘GNX’ Snippet

Kendrick Lamar dropped a new track on Friday (November 22), introducing the masses to his surprise album of the same name, GNX.

The clip, first shared on K. Dot’s official YouTube page, was only a minute long and begins with the camera entering a large room with two cars on either side and what appears to be a large skylight that looks like a portal between them. Kendrick is then seen sitting in, then standing next to one of the vehicles rocking a blue fit and sneakers, white t-shirt, blue jeans and leather jacket. He later sits under the massive skylight and looks up, seemingly at the sky, as his soft voiceover raps about being “reincarnated with love” and knowing that “everyone will be judged, but this time God only favors us.”

At the 52-second mark, however, Kendrick turns up the aggression, rapping about going “body for body” and being able to “clear the room” when necessary, before a scream interrupts the flow and “GNX” emerges and ends the clip. Check it out above.

Surprising release GNX also landed on streaming services on Friday (Nov. 22), with 12 tracks spanning 44 minutes. The album took social media by storm, with several fans sharing their disbelief.

“Kendrick fell? omgggg LET’S GOOOOOOO,” wrote one Kendrick follower, while another added, “KENDRICK IS THE BEST RAPPER EVER. HANDS DOWN. IT’S NOT CLOSE. I DON’T WANT TO HEAR SH*T!!!!!”

While it’s still early, track 3, “Luther,” appears with SZA is already a fan favorite.

“A Luther sample with an SZA feature??? Nah, Kendrick’s really into it,” one fan wrote, while another shared, “SZA and Kendrick just sound so good over this Luther Vandross sample.”
