UTEP visits the national spotlight and the NCAA playoff picture this week when the Miners travel to Knoxville and Neyland Stadium to receive no. 10 in Tennessee.

The miners are there for a payday of $1.6 million for a non-conference game, which is somewhat traditional in the SEC in the penultimate week of the season. This is one of four non-conference games that SEC teams are involved in a week before rivalry week.

Tennessee is a 41.5-point favorite, so it’s supposed to go the same way as UTEP’s opener, when they lost at Nebraska 40-7 and picked up a $1.65 million paycheck.

The Miners come into this one off a bye week that followed their second win of the season in double overtime against Kennesaw State. Tennessee comes in off a loss to no. 12, Georgia, which now has them right on the edge, the first team, in fact, out of the playoff picture.
