“Absolutely deadly out there!” – mywelshpool

Readers have shared their early morning experiences after a chilly night when temperatures dropped to -3 in the Welshpool area.

A reader messaged us to say, “I just walked down town and the sidewalks are absolutely deadly out there.”

At 6.30am, no schools were listed as closed today on the official Powys website, but parents and carers are advised to keep checking after yesterday’s widespread closures.

The grinders have been out again to keep the main A roads ticking over, but the B roads are reported to be difficult, so again the advice is to allow plenty of time if you were to drive this morning.

Powys County Council said it regretted its failure to collect bins on Tuesday and asked residents to take their bins back in and they will be collected again next week on a normal day.

There may be some snow showers in the next few hours, but it will lighten up during the day, but temperatures will remain low.
