Post Malone Announces Detroit Stadium Concert With Big Opening Act

The concert is part of the ‘Sunflower’ and ‘I Had Some Help’ hitmaker’s first stadium tour.

Post Malone has an announcement. A Big Ass message, to be more specific.

The multi-genre hitmaker will perform at Ford Field on May 18 as part of his “Big Ass Stadium Tour,” the singer announced Tuesday.

He’ll be joined by fellow rapper-turned-country singer Jelly Roll, who earlier this month told a crowd at Little Caesars Arena that it was his dream to perform at Ford Field. (In retrospect, it looks like the fix was in.)

Tickets for the show go on sale at midday on November 26 via Ticketmaster. A presale for Citi cardholders begins at noon Wednesday, and artist presale starts at 9 a.m. Friday. Fans can register for advance ticket sales here.

The concert is the second show to be announced on Ford Field’s 2025 document, following the announcement of Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks’ March 29 concert at the downtown football stadium.

Posty’s “Big Ass Stadium Tour,” which kicks off April 29 in Salt Lake City and will visit 25 North American cities, marks the 29-year-old’s first stadium concert outing.

It comes on the heels of this year’s “F-1 Trillion,” his sixth studio album and first foray into country music, which includes the Morgan Wallen-featuring smash hit “I Had Some Help,” which earlier this year spent six consecutive non-weeks at no. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Malone, born Austin Post, also hit no. 1 this year with “Fortnight”, Taylor Swift’s single, in which he has been featured. He previously topped the charts with “Rockstar” (featuring 21 Savage), “Psycho” (featuring Ty Dolla Sign), “Sunflower” (featuring Swae Lee) and “Circles.”

As much a preacher and motivational speaker as he is a country singer, Jelly Roll has performed in Detroit a dozen times in the past 15 months. At Little Caesars Arena earlier this month, he talked about his history in Detroit, going back to his days performing at the Shelter and Saint Andrew’s Hall, and he told fans where he really wanted to play was the home of the Detroit Lions.

“I hope one day we come back and can do it at Ford Field, baby,” Jelly said during his show. “It’s my dream, Detroit!”

West Virginia singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell will also perform at the show.

Post Malone has worked his way up the Detroit concert charts since his Motor City concert debut, performing with Fetty Wap at the Fillmore Detroit in February 2016. He then opened for Justin Bieber at the Palace of Auburn Hills in April and was back in October headlining Saint Andrew’s Hall.

He has since performed several arena concerts in Detroit, including shows at Little Caesars Arena in 2019 and 2022.

Post Malone’s last area concert was at Pine Knob in July 2023.
