Ukraine attacks Russia with US-made Atacms

Ukraine has hit Russia using US-made long-range attack missiles for the first time since the Biden administration lifted restrictions on their use, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that an attack on the country’s soil had taken place and claimed that its air defense systems shot down five out of six Atacms missiles over the Bryansk region.

Videos circulated on Telegram showed a military facility in flames and a smoke trail in the sky above what looks like a missile.

Ukraine’s General Staff did not confirm the use of Atacms, but took responsibility for the attacks on the Russian arsenal, which it had previously attacked with drones.

“The destruction of ammunition depots will continue for the Russian army of occupiers to stop the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” it said.
