Soaking rain moves into Monday and winds

Rain is moving into southern Minnesota Monday afternoon. In the Twin Cities, you can expect rain after 15.00 and constant rain in the evening. Several rounds of rain will continue overnight, and it may become heavy at times with some thunder. By Tuesday morning, over an inch of rain is likely across most of the state.

Rain will shift north of the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon, then wind will cause temperatures to drop. When you wake up Tuesday morning, it will be in the low 50s. By sunset, temperatures will drop into the low and mid 40s. It will be even colder through the second half of the week. Expect highs in the 30s and wind chills in the 10s and 20s.

Let’s talk about snow. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ll see snow by midweek. The best chances for shoveling to come out, however, are across northwestern Minnesota. Cities from Alexandria to Fargo could see 1 to 3 inches of snow Wednesday. In the Twin Cities, there can be dust on piles of leaves and car windows. It will be difficult to get anything to stick with light snow and wind.
