McNeese hosts North Texas for the White Out the Legacy game

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese returns home Monday night for one of his biggest games ever at the Legacy Center when the Cowboys host North Texas out of the American Athletic Conference.

Tip-off is scheduled for 18.00, and the tickets are on sale, but go fast. It is also White Out game. Each fan will receive a white t-shirt on their seat when they arrive. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Tom Hoefer and Ron Hayes on the call.

The Cowboys are 1-2 on the season and are coming off a tough 72-64 loss at No. 2 in Alabama in their last outing a week ago last Monday. North Texas will come in with a 3-0 record after an impressive 54-51 win over Big Ten member Minnesota.

McNeese has four players averaging double figures in scoring on the year, led by Alyn Breed with an average of 17.5. Sincerely Parker comes off the bench to chip in a 14.7 mark, while Javon Garcia sinks 13.3 per game and Christian Shumate a 10.0 clip.

North Texas is led by senior guard Atin Wright with a 12.3 average, while senior guard Jasper Floyd at 11.7 and former McNeese Cowboy Johnathan Massie has a 10.3 mark.

The Cowboys are expected to start Garcia, Shumate, Omar Cooper (6.5 apg), Brandon Murray (5.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg) and Joe Charles (5.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg).

Possible starters for North Texas include Wright (6-1, 185), Floyd (6-3, 195), Rondel Walker (6-5, 185, 7.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg), Moulaye Sissoko (6-9 , 245, 6.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and Grant Newell (6-9, 220, 3.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg).

McNeese and North Texas, once Southland Conference foes, will meet for the first time since 2017 and will be the 38th.th overall matchup with North Texas with a 20-17 lead.

The Cowboys are ranked No. 13 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Top 25 mid-major poll.

After Monday’s game, the Cowboys will play at the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam starting Friday against Illinois State.

McNeese has won 19 straight games at the Legacy Center.
