Cowboys’ Jake Ferguson suffers concussion against Texans

ARLINGTON, Texas – The injuries continue to pile up for the Dallas Cowboys with Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson suffering a first-half concussion and being ruled out for the remainder of Monday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Ferguson had an 11-yard catch on the Cowboys’ first possession and was not targeted again until his injury was announced. Ferguson entered the game as the Cowboys’ second-leading pass catcher behind wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Without Ferguson, the Cowboys have Luke Schoonmaker, Brevyn Spann-Ford and Princeton Fant at tight end. They combined for 10 catches in the first nine games of the season. Fant was lifted from the practice squad Monday with linebacker Hunter Luepke inactive with a calf injury.

Ferguson sprained his knee in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns and did not play in the Week 2 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Of the Cowboys’ 22 starters in the season opener, 11 players have missed games due to injuries, including quarterback Dak Prescott, who was placed on injured reserve Monday after undergoing season-ending hamstring surgery last week. Prescott arrived at AT&T Stadium on crutches and watched the game in the coaches’ booth.
