Monday Night Football Open Thread: Houston Texans at Arlington Cokeboys

Once every four years, we get to relive the first game the Houston Texans ever played. For those of you too young to remember (personal note: shit, I’m old), the Texans’ first-ever game in franchise history was a Monday night showdown against Quincy Carter and Dallas Cowboys.

The Texans were understandably underdogs going into their first ever game; and let’s be honest, the hype surrounding the Cowboys is as undeserved as it is persistent.

Funny how some things never change even after all these years.

And neither team has won one Super Bowl in the same span. Go figure.

Despite the odds, the Houston Texans won their first game in team history 19-10 against these Cowboys and in front of their owner Jerry Jones, who I’m pretty sure hasn’t aged a day since then, and that’s not a compliment. .

It seems fitting that this rematch is even on Monday Night Football again. The Texans enter tonight’s game on the team’s first losing streak of the season.

If there is any justice in the universe, that losing streak ends tonight. We’ll know if that’s the case in a few hours.

Here’s what you need to know for tonight’s game:
