Nebraska football’s pregame huddle was interrupted by USC players in a brief altercation

LOS ANGELES — Nebraska football’s usual pregame tradition on the road didn’t go according to plan Saturday morning in Los Angeles.

At road games, head coach Matt Rhule has a tradition of gathering the Nebraska football team at midfield for a pregame prayer and team huddle. However, several USC players going through their pregame stretches got involved in the melee, which led to the intervention of staff from both USC and Nebraska.

Nebraska defensive line coach Terrance Knighton tried to control the situation on one side of the scrimmage while veteran leaders Ben Scott and Isaac Gifford exchanged words with USC’s Elijah Hughes.

A USC official eventually removed Hughes from the clamp with a limited amount of pushing and shoving as Nebraska exited the midfield area.
