Agree with the judges? Watch Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Fight on Netflix

On Friday night, veteran boxer Mike Tyson squared off with Jake Paul in a heavyweight boxing match that lasted all of eight rounds. Paul, who rose to fame as a YouTuber before switching to a boxing career in 2020, won by unanimous decision in a fight that most viewers described as sloppy.

After achieving legendary status in the ring as a heavyweight champion with a career that began in the 1980s, Tyson retired professionally in 2005 and then laced up the gloves to do exhibition fights for a few years. The 58-year-old’s last fight was in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr., another former world champion. Paul, who is 27, had been training for months after their original fight was postponed. The couple’s training journey is depicted in the Netflix documentary, Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson.

Thursday evening, Tyson punched Paul in the face during the pair’s standoff at the weigh-in after Paul crawled onto the stage, stepped on Tyson’s foot and stood in his face.

Paul and Tyson have been promoting this Netflix bout all year, which was pushed back from its original July 20 date. The event will be broadcast live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will feature a series of preliminary matches before the main card on Friday night.

Ringside commentary was provided by Roy Jones Jr., Mauro Ranallo and Rosie Perez. Sean Wheelock served as the rules and scoring expert with Mark Calo-oy as the referee.
