Commanders inactive list for Week 11 game against Eagles

The Washington Commanders had some injury issues to navigate before their Week 11 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Lincoln Financial Field doesn’t represent the easiest proposition at the best of times, least of all when a team is under-strength. Something that makes the challenge more difficult for head coach Dan Quinn’s squad going forward Thursday night football.

There has been a mix of good news and bad news on the health front where Washington is concerned leading into this crucial NFC East rivalry.

The Commanders will not have the services of newly acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore, which is a setback given the success wideouts AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith have had in this game. However, this trade was always with the business end of the campaign and the postseason in mind. Being cautious is the right approach.

Another key absentee is kicker Austin Seibert. The ultra-consistent presence missed last weekend’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Zane Gonzalez came in off the street and didn’t put a foot wrong. This represents a completely different – and far more daunting – challenge.

Washington also got a huge boost in the midst of this doom and gloom.

After an encouraging week of practice — albeit a short one — running back Brian Robinson Jr. not assigned a damage designation and ready to go. The former third-round pick missed the last two games with a hamstring problem, so he may not be ready for a full workload. But make no mistake, having him out there gives the Eagles something else to think about along with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in the backfield.

Fans are anxiously awaiting developments regarding Washington’s three offensive tackles, all of whom are listed as questionable. The respective statuses of Andrew Wylie, Brandon Coleman and Cornelius Lucas are all in doubt. Not having them would be a body blow in such a hostile environment.

This is a huge game in more ways than one. It’s all hands on deck for the Commanders, who can regain the initiative and cement their credentials as a playoff contender with victory as the national NFL crowd watches. Whether this is a step too far remains to be seen, but it will be fascinating to watch unfold.
