Mike Tyson nearly knocks out the trainer in front of a large crowd before Jake Paul opens the workout

Mike Tyson showed off his power and speed in a special open training session Tuesday night in Texas, and his trainer had to be on his toes through every punch.

The controversial fight between Tyson and Jake Paul is now just two days away, and anticipation is building for the boxing icon’s return to the ring.

Concerns have been raised about Tyson’s health heading into the fight, which recently turned 58.

But the former undisputed world heavyweight champion has repeatedly played down those concerns and showed he meant business in a brief open training session on Tuesday night.

The entire fight card was in action, but hundreds were in attendance at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas to catch a glimpse of Tyson.

Tyson’s trainer, Rafael Cordeiro, had the pads on as the pair danced around the ring as Tyson hit a series of combinations.

Cordeiro gave Tyson instructions on which punch combo to go for as the 58-year-old delivered with devastating power and speed.

Tyson’s trademark footwork and head movement were present as he came close to connecting with Cordeiro on several occasions.

Cordeiro even looked surprised at times as he kept his head to the side to avoid being hit.

The pair managed to share a smile in the ring at one point before Tyson ended the short session.

Tyron Woodley, who lost twice to Jake Paul in 2021, was impressed by what he saw from Tyson in the ring.

“You can watch a 20-second clip or a four-minute clip, and anyone can look like a freak,” Woodley said.

“We see a full workout and he’s not even really breathing hard.

“We’re all sweating hard because you don’t realize you’re in a moment until you’re in a moment.”

Speaking in the ring shortly after the training session, Tyson opened up about his initial doubts after agreeing to fight Paul earlier this year.

When asked what he learned about himself in the past few months, Tyson replied, “That I’m tougher than I think I was.

“When I agreed to this fight and I started training I said ‘what the hell am I thinking’.

“I finished the process and now the game is over. All the hard work is done.”
