Snow showers in the morning will make for a quiet weekend

Snow showers in the morning will make for a quiet weekend

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KJCT) –

Local:

Grand Junction experienced passing showers in the early morning hours this morning. This was provided by a small storm cell that passed through the region and left a light dusting. The ridge of high pressure approaching from the northwest corner of the state has yet to take control of the weather patterns. This allows for a little bit of atmospheric movement in the area. The small storm cell is visible on the live radar loop shown above.

This morning, the 48-hour snowfall totals are in the double digits for many Colorado counties. Many major school districts have canceled classes today due to the heavy congestion expected in the Denver area. Denver Public Schools, Aurora, Cherry Creek, Douglas County and Jefferson County Public Schools have called today a snow day. Accumulations on the eastern planes will be wet and heavy.

Travel today and this weekend can be complicated. Denver area and eastern flights will have a messy travel weekend. Parts of the central mountains will also see road accumulations and freezing temperatures.
