Friday Women’s Super League soccer predictions

Manchester City have enjoyed a perfect season domestically and in the Champions League since their opening 2-2 draw against Arsenal and there seems no reason to oppose the Women’s Super League leaders when they visit Tottenham.

Gareth Taylor’s side, who celebrated victory over European champions Barcelona last month, missed out on the title on goal difference last term and have won 17 of their last 20 home games, so it would be understandable if Spurs were not looking forward to visit a venue where they were beaten 7-0 12 months ago.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have had an underwhelming campaign and achieved only their second success of the campaign last week when they needed an injury-time own goal to see off struggling West Ham.

They have conceded 14 goals in their last five away games, including a 3-0 loss at Manchester United and a 5-2 defeat at Chelsea, allowing City to once again run away and win a game by at least four goals.

Arsenal were also expected to push five-time title winners Chelsea all the way this term, but they have already slipped off the pace and have plenty to prove against Brighton at the Emirates, having failed to win any of their three league home games this campaign .

The Seagulls ended last term with a 5-0 defeat against the Gunners at Boreham Wood, but they have made a strong start, with their only defeat coming against the leaders.

Their four wins have all come against bottom-half sides – Everton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester – but they are set to give Arsenal plenty of food for thought, so expect both sides to score in north London.
