“I love the feel of the show, and also the cast and crew have all become family,” he said. “So it’s really nice that we all now think of each other as family. It’s one of my favorite experiences and I love the show.

“I love playing Doc Mullins because I’ve played a lot of doctors and I did a lot of research on rural doctors who work in small towns where you know all your patients. It’s a different kind of connection with the people you serve.

“When you walk down the street, you see them; you see them in the bar at night. It really is a different kind of medicine. This is the story of a guy who left the big city to return to treating patients one-on-one, and I love that.”
