Interstate 10 reopens, suspect in custody after barricade situation near Cortaro Road

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News)— The Arizona Department of Public Safety confirms a suspect is in custody after a barricade situation at EB I-10/MP near Cortaro Road.

Additionally, the Arizona Department of Transportation says all lanes have reopened following a shutdown of I-10.

According to our sister station, AZ Family, the barricade situation is connected to a double shooting that happened overnight in Phoenix.

Phoenix Police responded to reports of two people with gunshot wounds before 1 p.m. 2 near 27th Avenue and McDowell Road.

Authorities said a suspect shot the mother of his children and her boyfriend at a home near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

Phoenix Police told AZ Family the boyfriend was OK and the woman was in critical condition at the hospital.

Phoenix Police said the suspect left the scene and headed south on I-10, where Department of Public Safety troopers followed him to the Tucson/Marana area.
