Fallout Season 2 Casts Macaulay Culkin as a ‘Crazy Genius-Type Character’ – Report

The highly anticipated second season of Prime Video’s Fallout has just added another big name to its cast.

According to one Deadline report Thursday, Macaulay Culkin has joined Season 2 of the video game adaptation in a recurring role. Details are a little sparse, but according to the article, he’s said to be “playing a crazy genius character.” IGN has reached out to Prime Video for more details.

Culkin joins a cast that also includes Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones and Walton Goggins. According to the report, Culkin, who of course broke out as a child star in Home Alone, has already worked with Prime Video and voiced a character in the animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.

Culkin’s reported casting is one of the few pieces of information we’ve gotten about Season 2, which was quickly ordered after Fallout became a huge hit for Prime Video. It attracted a whopping 65 million viewers in its first 16 days, according to Amazon’s own figures, and became the second most-watched show on Prime Video. It also drew interest back into the game series, with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella saying earlier this year that it spurred a nearly 5x jump in hours played for the franchise on Game Pass.

As for when we can expect to see Culkin and his mad genius character in Season 2, well, we’re not sure yet. Showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner have previously assured fans that they’re “going as fast as we possibly can” in terms of getting Season 2 out the door, so hopefully it won’t be too long.

Meanwhile, read IGN’s 9/10 review of Season 1, where Matt Purslow wrote: “A bright and fun apocalypse filled with dark punchlines and bursts of ultra-violence, Fallout ranks among the best video game adaptations ever made.”
