Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident

SEAFORD, Del., – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday night.

On November 4, just after 8:15 p.m., troopers say a Kia Optima was traveling eastbound on Ockels Road and approached the stop sign at Sussex Highway.

At the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway, in the right lane, approaching Ockels Road.

During the investigation, police learned that the Kia pulled away from the stop sign to cross Sussex Highway and into the path of the Silverado.

As a result, the front part of the Silverado driver’s side hit the rear of the Kia.

The driver of the Kia, a 33-year-old woman from Milford, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The front passenger of the Kia, a 64-year-old man from Seaford, was taken to an area hospital where he died.

The driver of the Silverado, a 37-year-old man, and a 10-year-old passenger, both of Laurel, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
