US Representative Tim Burchett wins another term in Congress

Republican US Rep. Tim Burchett has won another term after he was challenged by the Democrat Jane George.

Burchett, 60, was elected to Congress in 2018 and previously served as mayor of Knox County.

George, 61, is a small business owner.

Tennessee’s 2nd Congressional District covers Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, Knox, Loudon and Union counties.

The district has only been represented by a Democrat once. Irene Bailey Baker held the seat for a year after winning a special election to fill the vacancy left by the death of her husband, Howard H. Baker. She did not run for the next election.
