live results map of the US presidential election

How does this option work? The President of the United States is elected by the Electoral College. Each state has a number of electors equal to the number of senators and representatives it has in Congress. (Washington DC is treated as the smallest three-electoral-vote state.) All but two states award all of their electoral votes to the candidate who receives the most votes, no matter how narrow the victory. Maine and Nebraska award two electoral votes to the statewide winner and one to the winner in each of their congressional districts. Alaska and Maine require candidates to win an outright majority through ranked-choice elections.
