Alabama QB Jalen Milroe will enter the 2025 NFL Draft

A new starting quarterback will lead Alabama football next season. Jalen Milroe, who started for the Crimson Tide the past two seasons, announced his plans to enter the NFL Draft on Thursday.

He announced the news with a statement on social media.

“Soccer has always been my passion and since I was a child I have dreamed of competing at the highest level,” Milroe said in the release. Through every win, every tough loss, and every criticism along the way, my love and dedication to this game has never wavered. Every day my gratitude for the opportunity to play this sport that I love only grows stronger. That being said, I am entering the 2025 NFL Draft.”

Milroe joined the Crimson Tide in the 2021 recruiting class. He beat out Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner for the starting job before the 2023 campaign and, except for one game that year, has started ever since.

He was a captain for two seasons in Tuscaloosa.

His last game came Tuesday in the ReliaQuest Bowl, a game the Crimson Tide lost to Michigan. Milroe struggled early in the loss, taking a fourth down sack, fumbling twice and throwing an interception on UA’s first four drives.

Milroe finished the year with 205 completions on 319 passes. He threw for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He was also a major contributor on the ground, rushing for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on April 25.
