How much snow will Indianapolis get tonight? Forecast for potentially hazardous weather

Get ready for some of the white stuff to end the week and potentially dangerous weather conditions to start next week.

Light snow will fall across central Indiana tonight and overnight with up to one to two inches possible, according to National Weather Service’s Indianapolis office.

Focusing on northern parts of the region, the service suggests minor travel impacts are possible Thursday night into early Friday.

The forecast for today’s high is near 36 with a west wind around 8 miles per hour. There is likely to be snow between 23.00 and 05.00

Friday morning the temperature will drop to about 24 degrees, then go to about 14 degrees in the evening with west-northwest wind seven to 10 miles per hour, and gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

Significant snow Sunday and Monday

The area could see hazardous conditions at the end of the weekend, according to the weather service.

The potential for significant snow exists from Sunday into Monday with greater impacts likely for central and southern areas.

Mixed or icy precipitation is also possible, especially south of I-70. Freezing conditions are expected to follow with wind chills possibly below zero.

Specific snowfall amounts and which counties will experience the greatest impact are uncertain, but the area should prepare for potential travel impacts.
